Time to Get the Ball Rolling

Way before I got into photography, golf, live music promotion or just about anything I’m into now – I was heavily into shooting pool. I worked at a pool hall part-time, full-time and part-time for a little over ten years. I had gotten to be a pretty good player. I travelled to tournaments and even did a little gambling wagering (there is a difference) now and again.

About 10 years ago I pretty much put the pool cue in the closet and found other interests and hobbies to keep myself occupied. I still enjoyed shooting a game of  9-Ball every once in a while, but the competitive edge just wasn’t there. And neither was the ability to shoot as well as I used to. I was much happier hacking up a golf course or going out to check out a local band.

Five years into my hiatus from the game, an old friend called to see if I was interested in shooting on a 9-Ball team in one of the pool leagues I used to belong to. So… to make a long story short, I have been shooting pool again for the last five years, albeit only once a week. Our team has even won the championship two times since I’ve been playing again.

Due to a sub-par performance at our last pool league match, we missed the playoffs by two games this season. Not too good for the defending champions.

Oh well, maybe I’ll try to get in a little practice every once in a while…. When I’m not shooting photographs that is.
