I had the opportunity to shoot the band fun. at Pittsburgh’s Stage AE. The show started with the three members gathered in the spotlight on the left side of the stage wearing tuxedos. After a short number on the ‘pianos’, the tuxes were gone and the light show exploded into colorful chaos. This was a difficult shoot with the ever-changing lights and the high energy movement of frontman Nate Ruess.
I was shooting with Nikon’s D4 which allowed me to venture into ISO settings of 6400 and beyond without sacrificing much in image quality. This allowed for shutter speeds to stay between 1/160 and 1/500 at apertures between f/2.8 and f/5
