Concert Shoot: The Darkness

Pittsburgh’s Stage AE was jumping on a Monday night. The Darkness came to town and rocked the joint. Currently touring the U.S. until February, the band will then head to Europe for another two months of rockin’ the crowds.

Lighting was pretty much standard house lighting but with a follow spot keeping up with the ever-moving lead singer, Justin Hawkins. As for drummer Ed Graham, the combination of a high drum riser and high-mounted toms prevented any shots of him. Dan and Frankie were moving about in mostly an orange or green wash of light during the first three songs.

Because of the follow spot, ISO settings ranged from 250 all the way to 2000. I took a few shots with the 70-200, but for the most part used either the 35 or 50mm primes.
