Back on August 7th I had the opportunity to shoot the band 311 as well as the show’s opening act, Slightly Stoopid. The weather was great for an outdoor show at Stage AE, and both groups delivered amazing performances.
Slightly Stoopid played prior to the sun going down. So I was able to use higher shutter speeds and lower ISO settings. By the time 311 hit the stage, night had fallen and all of us photographers in the pit were at the mercy of the band’s lighting setup. They had some intense back lighting, but also coupled that with adequate front lighting. The color choices for the lighting was a little puzzling at times (same color for both front and back lighting greatly reduced contrast). But in those cases, black & white to the rescue.
Below are galleries from both of the bands.
